The success of the BIMS project exemplifies the power of innovative biobank informatics in driving efficiency, collaboration, and excellence.
In a groundbreaking collaboration, iVention and Radboud Biobank are thrilled to announce the successful implementation of the iLES Biobank Platform at Radboudumc. This tailored biobank solution marks a significant leap forward in the collection, storage, and management of samples and data. Let's delve into the key achievements from the BIMS (Biobank Information Management System) project that have set a new standard in biobank informatics.
1️. Data Migration:
Migrated all sample-related information flawlessly from the previous BIMS system, ensuring a smooth transition for Radboud Biobank.
2️. HL7 Interface Excellence:
Implemented an HL7 interface with the Laboratory Information System (LIS), enabling efficient data exchange. This includes crucial data such as study numbers, order sets, collection details, and more.
3️. Protocol Precision in iLES:
Defined robust protocols within iLES, outlining the expected tube quantities per biobank and collection. Precision in protocols ensures accuracy in sample flow, sample tracking and management.
4️. Cross-Departmental Support:
Tailored our BIMS to seamlessly support multiple departments, enhancing collaboration and data accessibility across Radboud Biobank.
5️. Aliquot Management:
Streamlined the preparation of mother tubes, aliquots, and storage processes, optimizing efficiency in managing valuable biomaterials.
6️. Efficient Issuance Process:
Implemented a smooth and efficient issuance process, ensuring the timely provision of samples for research and analysis.
7️. Robust Financial and Management Overviews:
Equipped Radboud Biobank with comprehensive financial and management overviews, providing insights for strategic decision-making.
8. Quality Assurance:
The SPREC (Standard PREanalytical Code) is determined for each sample and aliquot by considering factors such as the date of storage in the long-term storage facility, transportation times, centrifuge times, and the specific protocol used (including sample type and container type). Sub-Collection users have the ability to search for aliquots using the corresponding SPREC codes.
iVention extends gratitude to Radboud Biobank for their collaborative spirit in achieving these milestones. The success of the BIMS project exemplifies the power of innovative biobank informatics in driving efficiency, collaboration, and excellence.
